The Assistant Director of Global Research & Initiatives manages all aspects of CWEL measurement and evaluation, case studies, grants, research administration, and Diana International Research Institute (DIRI). Specifically responsible for all data collection, disseminating key findings, and synthesizing data and information to support CWEL programming, promotions, and partnerships. The Assistant Director also manages all aspects of the DIRI conference production, and serves as the Babson liaison to the DIRI membership community.

The Diana International Research Institute (DIRI) is the premier global research institute dedicated to being the source of all research, policy, practitioner, and educator information for women’s entrepreneurship. By supporting and connecting a worldwide community of stakeholders, we bring together the brightest minds conducting, translating, and disseminating rigorous research and data about women’s entrepreneurship that can directly impact teaching, policy, and practice. Every other year, the Conference is co-hosted by a member university/college (every other year, it is held at Babson College), bringing together the top researchers, educators, investors, policymakers, women entrepreneurs, and other disrupters who are dedicated to advancing women’s entrepreneurship from around the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the DIRI Faculty Director and the CWEL Associate Director to implement conference guidelines, annual conference strategy, and explore opportunities to innovate on process and/or program for each conference.
  • Manages all aspects of the pre, during, and post conference activities for the annual DIRI conference. This includes but is not limited to: serving as the primary liaison with the co-hosting university, working closely with their team and across other departments at Babson to produce a world class event; assisting in the development of the conference program; managing all conference logistics (food, room setups, transportation, etc.); working with vendors.
  • Writes, edits, and delivers compelling and articulate grant proposals and sponsorship pitches for foundations and corporations to solicit significant grants to support CWEL. May collaborate with the Director, Corporate and Foundation Philanthropy, and other colleagues on grant proposals and sponsorship opportunities when appropriate.
  • Coordinates and manages grants, including communication, updates, deliverables and data associated with grants. Works with members of the Babson community to ensure grant funding is used appropriately, within the specified timelines, and reported out accordingly.
  • Oversees special initiatives pertaining to gender-focused research, i.e. case studies series of CWEL community members, DIRI researchers, and Babson faculty.
  • Researches opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships, speaking and integration with CWEL initiatives. Prepares regular reports and provides recommendations for the Associate Director, Global Research and Initiatives.
  • Synthesizes data from DIRI into marketing materials, speeches and other important communications for CWEL and Babson.
  • Coordinates DIRI membership, workshops and symposiums to further the DIRI mission and Babson brand around the world.
  • Serves as the Managing Editor for the conference reference book. Reviews submitted papers, ensures all submission information is accurate, and consults with Legal to ensure publication is following appropriate copyright laws and that all required permissions to publish are received and archived.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Level of Education Required : Bachelor’s Degree
  • A minimum of 5+ years of similar experience.
  • Must have program management expertise.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong attention to detail and strong research and measurement skills.
  • Ability to work independently to solve problems; look for opportunities to take on responsibility; take thoughtful risks; and effectively act on new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.
  • Ability to anticipate and effectively handle change; demonstrate willingness to try new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to meet with co-sponsors and to manage the annual conference.
  • Babson College requires all Babson faculty and staff members authorized to work on our campuses or any other property owned or controlled by the College to verify that they have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19. We have extended our vaccination policy to require a COVID-19 booster shot for all eligible community members as well. Faculty and staff must provide booster vaccination information upon hire or within 21 days of becoming eligible for a booster (unless granted a medical accommodation or religious exemption).   • Preferred – Master’s Degree
  • Preferred – Proposal writing experience in an academic setting
  • Preferred – Post doctoral with a gener studies background
