CASES is a New York City agency working at the forefront of the intersection between behavioral health and involvement in the criminal justice system. Our mission is to increase public safety through innovative services that reduce crime and incarceration, improve behavioral health, promote recovery and rehabilitation, and create opportunities for success in the community.

The Nathaniel Clinic is an Article 31 clinic regulated by Office of Mental Health and located in the heart of Central Harlem. The mental health clinic serves individuals aged 13 and above and adults with a specialization in those who are involved in the legal system. The Nathaniel Clinic is part of the Behavioral Health division which consists of a continuum of services for justice-involved individuals with serious mental illness, including outpatient clinic, health home care management (HHCM), assertive community treatment (ACT), and intensive mobile treatment (IMT).

The Associate Director is responsible for supporting the clinical and administrative operation of the Nathaniel Clinic by overseeing day-to-day clinical care, including intake assessment, service planning, clinical interventions, and discharge planning as well as program development and coordination of services for Intensive Outpatient Program.


  • Oversee the day-to-day clinical operations of an assigned clinical team, including intake assessment, service planning, clinical interventions, and discharge planning
  • Develop and oversee the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), utilizing evidenced based program curriculum
  • Provide direct individual & group clinical supervision to a team of social workers, case manager, and interns
  • Provide relevant trainings to staff (e.g., co-occurring disorders, motivational interviewing)
  • Model and coach staff in recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and culturally competent care
  • Ensure provision of evidence-based practices for youth and adults with behavioral health needs who have been involved in the criminal justice system
  • Promote the integration of risk-need-responsivity & risk assessment/ management practices into clinical operations
  • Lead clinical high-risk rounds and maintain high risk lists; participate in the clinic Incident Review Committee (IRC); function as on-site point person for crisis or high-risk clinical situations; oversee 24/7 after hours phone service
  • Serve as a member of the First Responder Cohort as outlined in CASES’ First Responder Policy and Procedures
  • Train new staff on the use of the electronic health record as it relates to standardized clinical workflows and billing
  • Work with administrative, medical leadership, quality assurance, information services, facilities, and fiscal staff to meet clinical supervision goals
  • Other duties as required by agency senior or executive staff


  • New York State Licensed Psychologist (PhD, PsyD) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Must have strong skills in both clinical and administrative leadership and management
  • Knowledge of Intensive Outpatient Program model preferred
  • Program development or startup experience preferred
  • 2+ year of clinical supervision experience
  • Familiar and fluent knowledge of Part 599 regulations for NYS OMH licensed Article 31 clinics
  • Experience working with justice-involved individuals with behavioral health needs
  • Previous use of an electronic health record, preferably Qualifacts CareLogic
  • Strong organizational, leadership, professional, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred
  • Individuals with lived experience are encouraged to apply
