The Placement Case Manager and Reception Dari/Pashto Speaking assists refugees in becoming successfully resettled and self-sufficient by facilitating the integration and coordination of the Reception and Placement (R&P) Program, APA, Preferred Communities (PC), PRIME. This position will work out of the greater Puget Sound area office.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Carry an on-going caseload
  • Provide core services as mandated by LIRS/Department of State Cooperative Agreement for the first 90 days and other services beyond 90 days as specified by LIRS, ORR, or DSHS policies and guidelines
  • Provide cultural orientation and support to refugees adjusting to life in the U.S. in the greater Puget Sound area
  • Provide direct services to assist refugees in problem solving, including bilingual interpretation
  • Provides access and coordination services through referrals to refugee-service providers including the Health Department, PIC/WorkSource West, DSHS, etc.
  • Model and encourage direct, professional communication among staff members and facilitate development of a positive staff support network
  • Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity in the delivery of client services as it relates to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the populations served
  • Maintain on-going contact with refugee families
  • Attend all-staff meetings, other meetings and trainings as requested by supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 3 years of relevant experience.

Case Manager- Swahili Speaking

The Role: The Resettlement Case Manager provides resettlement and integration services to refugee families per our federal and state government contracts. This position requires considerable direct service, and involves providing newly arrived refugees with the resources necessary to achieve self-sufficiency. Kiswahili speakers are preferred.

Responisibilities:

  • Maintain case management for refugee clients in accordance with state and federal funded contracts
  • Provide refugee newcomer services which include collaboration with US ties, housing, and cultural orientation
  • Provide transportation to clients as needed
  • Coordinate needed services through referrals to refugee service providers including the Health Department, Employment Services, Social Security, ODHS and ESL providers
  • Act as point person to field volunteer and in-kind donation inquiries from community
  • Schedule donation pick-ups and delivery of furniture to refugee apartments
  • Work with Refugee Care Collective to match mentors/volunteers with refugee families upon arrival
  • Manage special refugee programs as required, e.g. Holiday Giving Program
  • Promote MCS programs to community as appropriate
  • Model and encourage direct, professional communication among staff members and facilitate development of a positive staff support network.
  • Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity in the delivery of client services as it relates to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of populations served
  • Attend trainings as required
  • Attend all-staff meetings, other meetings and trainings as requested by supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

  • Bachelor Degree in related field preferred, and/or three years relevant experience
  • Kiswahili speaking strongly preferred
  • Kituba (Kikongo), Lingala, and Tshiluba speaking is a plus
  • Must possess good oral and written communications skills
  • Must have excellent time management, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work as a supportive team member
  • Must be able to multitask and set priorities
  • Must be able to work well under pressure in a multicultural setting
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Requires strict adherence of HIPAA standards in the office workspace to ensure confidentiality
  • Must be able to transport clients in his own vehicle as necessary
