The Clinical Therapist will be responsible for clinical services and general case management within the context of a treatment team for youth and families served by The Children’s Center of Hamden.  In this position the Clinical Therapist will be responsible for providing various types of counseling and therapy to youth and families.  The Clinical Therapist is part of a multidisciplinary team and is responsible for providing information, strategies and a clinical perspective, along with promoting teamwork in the treatment of youth.  The Clinical Therapist will be the liaison to outside agencies and personnel; DCF, hospitals, insurance/managed care, the legal system, private consultants, etc., is expected to maintain appropriate personal boundaries with all people while on shift, and is expected to be sensitive to a culturally diverse population.  This role will also be expected to perform other related duties as assigned.

Schedule and Days Off: 

(37.5 Hours Work Week)

8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (* Hours have some flexibility to meet the needs of our clients*)

Saturday and Sundays Off


At least two years of experience working with children and families.  Training in child psychopathology and developmental psychology.  Working knowledge of DSM V, ability to engage clients in a therapeutic relationship in individual, family and group modalities of treatment.  Ability to design and implement therapeutic interventions to promote positive change.  Knowledge of child development.  Ability to work well independently within a treatment team philosophy.  Good verbal and written communication skills.  Bi-lingual preferred.

Licensure/certifications:  LMSW, LCSW, LPC, LMFT preferred with CT State licensure.
