Location: Oakland, CA
Description:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Junior Data Analyst in Oakland, CA. This is a great position for someone who’s interested in learning reporting, analytics, and healthcare. Down the line there is potential to learn and take on other things like BI reporting via Tableau/Power BI, and data science. Overview: The group is in charge of quarterly submissions to the government every 1st of the month of each quarter – January, April, July and October. The 1st of month each quarter their systems generate files they will likely send to the government (i.e., files related to if a person has Medicare, doesn’t have Medicare, etc.). Their job is to look at this list, perform various tests (ex. See if this person is really Medicare eligible or not – called the shake down process). The Junior Data Analyst will perform various tests in Excel and systems, looking at members info like Medicare effective date/end date, etc. to verify that everything is looking good. The remaining months they will be testing current systems with various defects they notice and mailing outreach to their groups to give them any status updates on their statistics (Ex. Reaching out via mail how many of their workers that have the company’s insurance are eligible for Medicare. Reports are generated in Excel, and they will have to go over line by line and group by group to analyze data (need to have keen eye for data analysis). Everything they do is mandatory, and compliance related. If there are any issues, the company could be fined. Everything is a manual process right now. Down the line, they would like to automate as much as they can so they can transition reporting to offshore teams so they can do it and this team can just validate the work. Once that happens, this will allow this person to work on other things like analytics, reporting, etc.
