Time Commitment: 40 hours/week, June 2023 – August 2023
Compensation: $15/hour for undergraduate students, $17/hour for graduate students
Position Overview:
The brand strategy team focuses on organizational culture, internal and external events, audience research and segmentation, brand marketing, brand voice, brand creative, brand architecture, swag, and more. The Intern’s role would focus on a few key areas for the team this summer: brand voice, swag & the forthcoming employee swag store, creative updates, and brand architecture.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Brand Voice
- Compile examples of PBS’s evolved voice in action from PBS staff and member stations, including successes and areas of opportunity
- Based on findings and external research, build recommendations for the brand team to create additional resources for brand voice users
Swag Assortment
- Work with internal designers and vendor partners to create new products for fall assortment, leading brainstorms, internal and external communication, and project timelines
- Research trends to inform long-term product assortment strategies and goals
- Create swag that is aligned with and helps amplify fall brand or programming initiative to distribute to employees
- Support swag inventory management; identify opportunities for improvement, create and implement solutions
Brand Architecture
- Research use of retro, nostalgia, and nerd-adjacent brands and design elements from media and other brands, to inform PBS’s brand architecture
Brand creative
- Manage new or updated asset rollout, file titling and metadata, version control, and thumbnail creation for internal data asset management system
- Support the brand team in maintaining the large, complex inventory of member station logos
Requirements for success:
- Current undergrad student or recent undergrad graduate, with a focus in brand strategy, marketing, communications, or another related field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and PowerPoint.
- General understanding of branding or marketing is required.
- The best candidate for this role will be naturally curious and a strong problem solver.
- Project management skills or experience is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once is critical to this role.
- Experience in communicating in a hybrid environment is preferred.

Brand architecture, brand strategy, design, internal and external communication, creating organized, clear, and compelling communications and presentations, presenting in front of team members and stakeholders, brand licensing, collaboration, project management.
