SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Supervisor, the Therapist is responsible for completing clinical assessments and providing therapy to individuals, families and groups. Uses independent judgment and discretion to provide individual, child, family and group therapy; counseling; crisis intervention; and advocacy services to children and families.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Uses independent judgment and discretion to gather information, assess needs and provide appropriate direct clinical and related therapeutic services, emphasizing evidence-based practices (EBPs), to clients and/or their families.
  2. Maintains appropriate case notes and other records and prepares periodic reports as required.
  3. Meets and/or exceeds client service delivery goals.
  4. Uses independent judgment and discretion to provide ongoing clinical assessment and treatment planning for assigned clients.
  5. Participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.
  6. Provides consultation to representatives of other agencies by providing regular reports as needed.
  7. Participates in regular clinical supervision.
  8. Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement process for the division.
  9. Participates in the ongoing Quality Assurance efforts for the provision of mental health services to children and families.
  10. Provides therapy at the home or other locations when clients are unable to come to the office for treatment.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  1. Develops and maintains knowledge of service standards and policies as stipulated by contract, licensing, and/or other governing bodies.
  2. Continuously increases professional knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the art practices; participating in in-service programs.
  3. Other duties and special projects as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities. 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • At least one year or more of experience working with low-income children and families preferred.
  • Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, or social work required.


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be able to produce documentation in Standard English which is legible and coherent.
  • Must be adept at the use of computer software programs and database driven documentation program.
  • Possesses a valid driver’s license and state-required auto insurance.
  • Required to travel extensively (> 50% of the time).
  • Spanish / English bilingual preferred.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Maintains patient privacy, including protecting the confidentiality, safeguarding the integrity and availability, and limiting the use and disclosure of patient Protected Health Information (PHI) to authorized individuals and entities.
  • Participates in, conducts, and sustains performance quality improvement activities according to designated role and responsibilities.
  • Sensitivity to service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Punctual and dependable attendance.
  • Free from alcohol and drug abuse.
  • Understands CII’s basic philosophy and participates fully in carrying out its mission.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Current Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) registration required.

  • Must be fully vaccinated to comply with the California Department of Public Health (CPHD) order issued on August 5, 2021.
