Description:

The post holder will work with the IT Manager, providing support for the entire infrastructure and using their knowledge to analyse PC, network, server and storage problems, identify the cause and restore function. This may involve short term measures to bring the equipment back on line, and a longer term plan to fully resolve the issue.

This role will be expected to apply a broad technical knowledge and experience, including the development of areas of specialist expertise.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1st Line Support and 1 to 1 technical training: face-to-face, over the phone or via written documentation.
  • Maintain accurate entries in the ticket management system of change requests/faults with resolutions.
  • Perform software & hardware installations and maintenance incl. regular and emergency security updates.
  • Continually monitor the infrastructure incl. backup systems and raise/escalate alerts, as necessary.
  • Troubleshooting issues and outages efficiently.
  • Set up new users (incl. license assignment) and devices; carry out general system administration to ensure access to servers, systems and resources.
  • Assist with research on technological developments and supplier communications.
  • Monitor system performance/usage and prepare relevant reports.
  • Set up video conference equipment for staff or guests.
  • Maintain IT inventory management and stock control processes.
  • Follow agreed procedures, respond to requests for assistance by providing information to enable users to resolve their technical problems.
